Day 4: The Value of Rest

Rest isn't a luxury; it's a necessity that we are invited into. As you know, God Himself rested on the seventh day, setting an example for us that we have the opportunity to follow.

And then again, Jesus illustrated what a balanced life of hard work and rest can and should look like. He worked hard at the task at hand but then also took time to rest and recharge. He often withdrew to lonely places to pray and seek God's presence (Luke 5:16).

And each of us is invited to a time of rest where we can recharge, reflect, and, most importantly, honor God.

So today, let's strive for a balanced life that values hard work but also understands the importance of rest. After all, a well-rested soul is a soul ready to serve God effectively.

Lord, thank You for the gift of rest. Genesis 2:2-3 shows us that even You rested on the seventh day. Help me to find balance in my life, to work hard, but also to find time to rest in You. Matthew 11:28-30 invites us to come to You for rest, and I accept that invitation now. May this rest rejuvenate my spirit and prepare me for the work You've set before me.
