Being Rich in God

DAY 1 OF 7

Laying up treasures in the right bank

“Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don't break through and steal.” (Matthew 6:19-20)

Investing your money the right way can yield a lot of returns. And who doesn't want to get rich? Those who are rich can do anything they want. You can buy a nice house, a good car, expensive clothes and travel far away.

But then we hear Jesus say: Don't collect nice things on earth - they can get broken, scratched or stolen. Does Jesus not grant us nice things, pleasures? Does He not allow us to enjoy life?

It's not like that at all. Jesus grants us a wealth far beyond earthly riches. Jesus wants to show us the meagerness of earthly riches and give us a glimpse of the unfathomable value of heavenly riches. He grants us the wealth that is lasting and survives even death. He wants to teach us that receiving from God's hands is better than grabbing with your own.

In this series, we will look for an answer to the question: what is the best investment I can make? We will explore what the Bible has to say about wealth. Who doesn't want to become rich? I do, but only in the right way.

How important are earthly riches to you?
