Secrets of Eden

DAY 3 OF 4

Out of Adam, God creates Eve. She is made to come alongside Adam to help fulfill his purpose on earth. Adam had received direct instruction from God that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil should be avoided at all costs. However, his helpmeet yielded to the voice of the serpent. By heeding another ideology, the floodgates of sin and curses opened up. Likewise, without Christ, there is no church. Interestingly enough, the global church is referred to as “the Bride of Christ.” In our day and age, there are a myriad of doctrines floating around within the church, many of which do not adhere to scripture. In these trying times, sound doctrine is key to the preservation of the church, as well as to the fulfillment of God's plan on the earth. In the book of Revelation, Jesus bids the church of Ephesus to go back to their “first love” and to “do the former things,” which stands to reason that not every new ideology must be adopted. Everything must be scrutinized and held under the lens of the Word of God. Although Adam and Eve ate of the wrong tree in Genesis, God offers another chance to man in Revelation. He mentions the tree of life yet again, this time promising to let the one who overcomes the seduction of false doctrine partake of it. Now, the ball is in our court.

The secret:

Hold onto the pure essence and doctrine of the Word of God. Take time to study it for yourself. Pray for clarity and revelation. As you are praying, ask the Lord to ground you in His word, that you will not be swayed by every wind of doctrine, but that you will hold fast to the infallible Word of God without wavering.
