Promises in the Psalms

DAY 35 OF 46

Promises: From Everlasting to Everlasting

Many people tell me they send these devos to family members and friends. That is very humbling. Thank you so much for doing that. If they would like to subscribe, you can send them to ronmoore.org/subscribe.

Yesterday we considered several attributes of God from Psalm 86. Today, let’s drill down on one—the eternality of God.

Psalm 90:1-2
Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

God is eternal. There was never a time when he wasn’t; there will never be a time when he ceases to exist. He has neither a beginning nor an end.

God is eternal. There is no succession of moments in his being. God never says, “My goodness, I don’t know where the summer went.” He is not on a twenty-four-hour cycle of days, weeks, months, and years.

God is eternal. He sees all things equally vivid. We see things one moment at a time. But God sees all things from beginning to end at the same time in living color!

God is eternal. While he sees all things equally vividly, God sees events in time and acts in time. He watches us throughout the day. In fact, he never takes his eyes off us. And in every situation of our day, God gives us exactly what we need right when we need it.

God is eternal…and he loved us so much that he sent his Son to pay the penalty for our sins so we could call him “Abba, Father.” Amazing!

Eternal Father, I cannot comprehend your eternality. But I do experience your love and care. Thank you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
