Worth Sharing

DAY 8 OF 28

Have you ever had someone tag you in a post on social media? Even off of the internet, it feels great for someone to know us so well that they say "Hey! This reminded me of you." These little interactions can completely change the way we view the relationship, and our perspectives of our relationships matter so much.

In today's reading, we'll look at the time Israel wanted to have a king. They looked around at the other nations and thought they'd rather be led by a person they could see, talk with, and touch rather than God who was invisible to them. The people went to Samuel who already knew this wouldn't fix a lot of their problems. But instead of fighting, arguing, or yelling, Samuel went to spend time with God, and God gave him a new perspective of the people.

Samuel chose to connect with God when he had this problem, and we can go to God in prayer, too. Whenever we do, not only do we grow closer to God, but we also learn to see our situation clearly. God gives us new insight and refreshes our perspectives to view people differently and to share the Good News with them more effectively. As we ask God to help us view people differently, we'll understand our role isn't to fix people but to care for them the way God does. We can pray for others as a way of showing them we've been thinking about them because sharing the Good News should start with prayer.

About this Plan

Worth Sharing

For the next four weeks, we'll follow the story of Samuel to see how God called him to share his faith through his words and actions. We'll discover how God invites us to share the Good News, see why sharing the Good News should start with prayer, explore what to do when sharing the Good News sometimes requires risk, and see how sharing the Good News can happen every day.
