DAY 5 OF 5

Go move some mountains.

When I started my business, the name “Mustard Seed Interiors” came pretty organically. It was a name God flashed in my head late one night and there was no doubt that was the name.

Starting my business was a huge step of faith and I always wanted to be reminded of that. I also wanted to be able to share that with others, which is easy when I’m asked what the name means.

When it came time to come up with a tagline for the business, again, it fell into place organically. My husband said it one night when we were driving to church.

“Move mountains in your home.”

I remember feeling choked up at hearing it for the first time. YES! I want to encourage women to move the mountains in their home and their lives. Not in their own strength, but through faith.

While this verse specifically talks about the mustard seed as symbolic of faith, I believe I can take some liberty and apply it in other ways.

Even the smallest, most insignificant thing can be used by God—a tiny investment, a simple idea—can grow and become the best little thing that ever happened in your life.

I think sometimes we’re scared of small beginnings. We don’t have enough faith to take that first step. But read today’s verse and really let it sink in.

“…it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

What would your life be like if you lived in that truth?

That “nothing” covers everything you can throw at it—a loving marriage, a content heart, peace during trials, or courage to parent differently, to go to the mission field, or to start a business. Nothing is impossible.

I think we sometimes think of faith as this quiet, gentle thing, but it’s HUGE and POWERFUL!

Even faith as small as a mustard seed.

  1. Buy a jar of mustard seeds and hold one in the palm of your hand. If faith was a physical, tangible thing, do you think you could have just one seed’s worth? Ask God for the faith you need for your situation.
  2. What are things you should be doing, you feel called and compelled to, but you’ve been too afraid to do them?
  3. Make a list of “mountains” in your life and pray through that list regularly.
