The Promise of Christmas

DAY 6 OF 20

It’s not always easy to live in peace with our friends, family members, coworkers, or even the other people in our faith community all the time. This is true in all seasons, but it sometimes seems especially challenging at Christmas. The pressure of a hurried holiday season, the gatherings of people with different ideas and expectations, and the need to present a picture-perfect Christmas all add to a lot of stress and a lot less peace. That’s when reminders like this one come in handy!

Peace has to be important because the writer of Hebrews tells us to make every effort to do it! The good news is that we don’t have to figure out how to live at peace with others on our own. God sent Jesus to bring peace to Earth. And because of that peace Jesus brought to all people thousands of years ago, we can call on God still today for help living in peace with others.

So, who in your life is difficult to live at peace with? Who makes the holiday season feel less than peaceful? Ask God to help you rely on his peace in that relationship in this season and beyond.

About this Plan

The Promise of Christmas

The birth of Jesus isn’t just a great story; it’s a real event that shows us not just how God loves us but how God’s people (just like us) had to learn to trust in the face of incredibly difficult and, at times, unbelievable circumstances. We’ll be reminded of the humanity in the story and the faith it takes to believe in the promise of Christmas!
