5 Days to Begin Detoxing Your Soul

DAY 5 OF 5

Reaching for Approval

When we are reaching for the approval of others, we will constantly shift ourselves to fit the image of what they find acceptable. It is a losing battle with a moving target. Instead of trying to fit in with others, what would it look like to be grounded in our identity in Christ and to please God?

Be honest with yourself today. Whose approval are you really looking for? Don’t beat yourself up for wanting to please others if that’s what is there. Thank God for the ability to redirect and choose differently today. It may be easier to shift this mindset if you are aware of what you are allowing to influence you. It is okay to set boundaries around your time, your relationships, and your energy. Spend time in the Word, especially in the gospels, and find what God requires of you. Hint: It’s a lighter load than you may anticipate. He is gracious and patient with you.

Worthy Lord, thank you for the patience you have for me. I don’t want to wake up one day and realize I wasted my life on what others wanted for me. I want to live in the freedom of your love and please you above all else.

Day 4

About this Plan

5 Days to Begin Detoxing Your Soul

It’s easy to dwell on the negative aspects of life. What we focus on affects how we live. The next 5 days will help you battle against toxic thinking. Renew your mind. Identify your negative thoughts and compare them with what the Bible says. Stop the downward spiral of doubt, comparison, and criticism, and choose to dwell on true, pure, noble, and lovely things. Detox your soul and experience refreshment.
