Revelation

DAY 16 OF 56

Today we will focus on the fifth and sixth seal. The fifth seal is opened and here are the cries of Christian martyrs, under the alter of God, who have been killed because of their faithful witness to God.

Verse 10: “They cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, the one who is holy and true, how long until you judge those who live on the earth and avenge our blood?””

They are asking a question I believe people all throughout history, and many of us, still ask today.

God’s response is patience. He says there is more that is to come before He can bring his judgment. God is slow to bring judgment. He was waiting for evil to reach its peak, so that any injustice isn’t left un-judged, while giving opportunity for all to follow him, showing the ultimate example of self sacrificial love. “In other words, God will not judge them until they are fully and thoroughly deserving of it” (NT Wright, Revelation for Everyone).

About this Plan

Revelation

The apocalypse ("uncovering" in Greek) that John receives reveals the nature of the world as it is and will one day be. Amidst all of the cosmic imagery is a Lamb and its army who conquer through the power of sacrificial love. This 8-week plan is written by the church and for the church as we seek to follow Jesus in the 21st century.
