I don’t feel comfortable asking
If you are serving where you need to ask individuals and churches to support your projects, let’s discuss the subject. Why do I so often hear “I don’t feel comfortable asking for support”?
Let’s look at it from the other point of view. In the giving part of your life, have you ever said, “I don't feel comfortable giving?” Probably not! The answer is no because giving is a joy as a follower of the Lord. If you have a donor individual or church looking to give joyfully, then you want to experience joy in asking.
Has the Lord called you to serve ministry opportunities in and through sport? If He has called, then you are giving those who invest in your work a blessing to be part of God's calling. Your goal is to build a team of investors who encourage you with prayer and finances. Your goal is to keep your partners well informed so they can keep you in prayer and be inspired by the fruit borne by their investments in God's work through you and your team. Those who are called to invest sometimes become some of your best long-term friends.
Many of my closest friends and encouragers in Christ are prayer and financial partners. Their children, as adults, often continue to be next generation friends and partners in the work of the gospel.
Scripture to ponder – Proverbs 18:24
There are friends who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.
Key Lesson: Those whom the Lord calls to be financial partners in your ministry may become lifelong encouragers and walk with you in continuous prayer. If you don't ask, you take away the joy from those the Lord has led to give.
