Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 9

DAY 18 OF 21

As we have already seen in chapters 1 and 2, Paul defends his right and authority to be an Apostle. Here in chapter 3, he continues and emphasizes the fact that he does not need a letter of recommendation to be an apostle because their church would not even exist if it was not for him bringing them the message, so they are his proof.

He compares the old covenant that was known by a glory on Moses's face that disappeared to a glory brought on by the leading of the Holy Spirit that will never disappear, and that will exceed in all ways the old covenant. The old covenant revealed human sinfulness and God's condemnation, requiring death to pay for sins.

The new covenant, on the other hand, leads to God's forgiveness for sin to all who trust in Christ, making it possible for us to look on His glory and to begin to be changed by it into the same image of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Are we holding on to both covenants, maybe living from an old way of thinking and living under condemnation and guilt while trying to understand how we can get hold of this new promise of forgiveness? Paul shows us that through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are free and can start to live and look like the image, the opinion of God. We need to loosen ourselves from the old and step into the new.

Take time today to ask the Holy Spirit to come and show you the glory into which we all, with an unveiled face can behold what God intended for us.
