God of the Impossible

DAY 5 OF 7

Day 5: Overcoming Hardships:

On day 5, we’re talking about how we can overcome the hardships that come our way when we are in pursuit of God’s will for our lives.

I can be an overcomer if I realize that because God is in it, there is eternal significance in every aspect of my life. As an overcomer, and because we are His sons and daughters, we realize that God’s providence is at work in the midst of every good and perfect gift, but more importantly, it is also at work in our hardships.

Can we become overcomers? Are there ways that we qualify to be overcomers? I would say a resounding, yes and yes! We cannot be overcomers if we have nothing to overcome. We have to allow hardships, but not only that, we have to embrace the hardships. Remember we will be in a battle, a spiritual battle, so I encourage you to be prepared to fight. Fight like your life depends on it because it does!

As Christians, we have been born again, and in this new birth, God has equipped us to be overcomers. We have to take hold of that which He has given us to succeed: His Word and prayer. And in Ephesians 6 we are told to put on the whole armor of God. It’s a reminder to us to gear up for the battles that we will be facing because 1 John 5:4 (CSB), states, “Everyone who has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith.”

God isn’t asking us to fix ourselves. He is asking us to come to Him with all our fears, doubts, brokenness and heartaches, and have faith in Him to do the impossible so that we can be overcomers. Friends, we can never be overcomers if we don’t first get over our self-sufficient attitude and learn to first come to Him. I say this to you with all confidence: God will come to you with grace and compassion as undeserved as it truly is. In Psalm 103:4 (HCB), we are reminded that not only will He redeem our lives from the pit, but listen to this: He “crowns you with faithful love and compassion.” So, He is waiting on us to come to Him so that we can be overcomers crowned with love and compassion.

It is simply amazing that through the trials, He is with us, and He continues to be our Good Shepherd, sticking to His promises because He is faithful. He never leaves us nor forsakes us, and we don’t need to be afraid or discouraged, because He has overcome the world (John 16:33)!
