4 Principles of Wisdom From King Solomon

DAY 3 OF 4

How did King Solomon's heart manifest itself in the first days of receiving this gift of wisdom received by God in a dream? Let's take a look together.

1. He worships God first.
2. He honors those around him.
3. He judges a situation wisely.

"And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had rendered" (1 Kings 3:28)

The third principle of wisdom is found in Solomon's first judgment. This judgment brought a deep respect for Solomon from all Israel.

We learn from this judgment that wisdom is not meant to kill life, but to protect life. In our Scripture passage, Solomon had no desire to kill the child, of course. His goal was to know the true mother. The child's life was at the center of his judgment, not the speeches of the two women.

Divine wisdom will always urge us to emphasize the protection of life (relational life, social life, married life, personal life, family life). Life must always be protected when managing a conflict or making an important decision. The Bible doesn't tell us whether the woman who lied was judged and punished for her lie, because the emphasis will always be on life, not death.

We also learn from this judgment that wisdom is not there to listen to speeches, but to listen to people's hearts and motivations. Solomon was able to judge this situation wisely not by arguments or logical development in his speech, but by revealing the motivations of hearts.

Divine wisdom will always lead us to consider the motivations of hearts rather than declared words. Beautiful words can conceal a hard heart, while poorly spoken words can hide an upright heart. This judgment ended when the hidden hearts of the two women were brought to light, bringing the truth to light.
