THRIVE Mom Devotional Series Part 2: The Skills to Thrive

DAY 4 OF 5

Day 4: Accountability As A Propeller To Fulfil God's Purpose

Today, we'll dive into the topic of accountability as a propeller to growing in God's purpose.

Accountability simply means taking responsibility for our actions, and it plays a crucial role in our journey to thrive in God's purpose.

So, let's start by being aware of God's expectations for us and where we stand in our growth. It's important to acknowledge our areas of improvement and strive to make things right. This is a part of our growth process and a significant aspect of accountability.

When discussing accountability, we often think of it in terms of others holding us responsible. But the truth is, it starts with us. We need to have integrity within ourselves, keeping the promises we make to ourselves before fulfilling them for others.

Now, let's explore the three levels of accountability:

1. Accountability to self

2. Accountability to others

3. Accountability to God

But why is accountability so important? Well, it's all about living a life of integrity. When we have integrity, we are true to ourselves both inside and out. It means being reliable and responsible, even when no one is watching. Holding ourselves accountable improves our performance and quality of life. Plus, it boosts our confidence because when we see ourselves delivering on our promises, it inspires confidence in others too.

Accountability also helps us build trust and social capital with others. When people witness the results we achieve in our own lives, they're more likely to trust and believe in us. Additionally, it enables us to break through the limitations we set for ourselves. By surpassing our own expectations, we start to believe that we can accomplish great things.

Speaking of accountability, let's look at Ruth's story in the Bible. Ruth chose to follow Naomi, not because she was forced or coerced, but because she had integrity. She embraced the God of Israel and cared for her mother-in-law, even as a foreigner. Ruth's personal accountability led her to work in the fields, and eventually, she found herself lying at the feet of Boaz, her kinsman redeemer. Through accountability to herself, she became part of the lineage of grace by marrying Boaz.

Remember, accountability to yourself is even more important than accountability to others.

Now, let's take a moment to pray: Heavenly Father, help me see myself as You see me. Grant me the strength to be a person of integrity in all areas of my life. Amen.
