Holy Spirit: From Creation to Companion ნიმუში

Once, going through a difficult time, I turned to the familiar comfort of working out. I cried and prayed as I exercised, and then the most beautiful thing happened. It was as if the Holy Spirit joined me in that space and used every movement to bring me supernatural comfort. I could feel His presence. Leaving the gym that day, I knew I had experienced the Holy Spirit as Comforter. It gave me joy, peace, and strength to bear what I was going through.
According to Jesus, the Holy Spirit is not a wafting, nebulous spiritual being far beyond our reach or understanding. Instead, Jesus seamlessly passed on the baton to the Holy Spirit by giving a lengthy teaching on who the Holy Spirit is. Knowing that He was leaving the earth, Jesus turned the disciples’ attention towards the Holy Spirit and outlined the roles He would play in our lives from then on.
Jesus said the Holy Spirit would be our Helper and Comforter coming to us after Jesus left the earth. He also called Him the Spirit of truth, who will guide us into all the truth.
And just like Jesus was given to us freely, so is the Holy Spirit! If we want the Holy Spirit, all we have to do is ask our heavenly Father, who knows how to give good gifts. Answering our prayer for the Holy Spirit is one gift He is happy to give whenever we ask.
A pastor friend told me once that we can ask for the Holy Spirit daily. Since the Holy Spirit is our Helper, Comforter, Teacher, and Guide, it should be a regular part of our day to ask Him to be any of those things to us as we need Him to be in our circumstances and for the work we have to do.
Prayer:
Lord, would You give me the Holy Spirit as my Helper, Comforter, Teacher, and Guide? As He helps me, help me to be obedient to follow as He leads. As He opens my eyes to the truth, may I trust that He is pointing me in the right direction. As He comforts me, may I release the pains and hurts I’ve held on to all these years. Jesus said that if we ask, You will hear our prayer and give us the Holy Spirit. So, believing that You only want what is best for me, I ask You for more of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
