5. Know When to ARTICULATE the Vision to Others
There are times when God wants us to tell everyone about what we’re doing. And then there are other times when He wants us to be like Mary when the angel Gabriel told her she would conceive a child. She didn't run out and tell everyone. Instead, she pondered what the angel told her in her heart. We need God’s wisdom to know the difference.
Nehemiah went to Jerusalem and was there for three days. While it was nighttime, he and a few other men walked around the city to assess the situation. He didn’t tell anyone what God had put into his heart to do for Jerusalem.
I'm not 100% sure why Nehemiah went about it the way he did. Perhaps he didn’t want to draw attention to what he was doing. Maybe it was because he needed to quiet his mind and free himself from distractions so he could hear from God more clearly.
Or maybe it was because, like us, when we share too early, we’re more vulnerable to other people’s reactions and negative comments. If the people we share with aren’t 100% on board, we can get discouraged before we even start.
Yes, there’s wisdom in a multitude of counselors. But knowing when to share and with whom to share the vision God’s given you is a crucial part of being successful.
Ask God for the necessary discernment to know when and with whom to share the dream God’s put in your heart. The enemy will try and use other people to keep you from accomplishing it.
