A Supernaturally Natural Life

DAY 12 OF 14

DOUBLE FOR YOUR TROUBLE

Every time I look back over the events that have transpired in my life, I can only praise and thank God for His constant hand of protection and guidance over my every move. One particular memory from my school days is how brutal and demeaning some of my teachers were to me. Their constant accusations were “You’re a good-for-nothing”, “You will be a failure”, “Your dad is a pastor, and here you are like the devil”, “You’re a useless kid”, “You will never make it in your life.” Those were my pseudo-showers of blessings for many years.

I grew so immune to such hurtful words that it became a normal part of me. Even if I attempted to do something good, these words paralyzed me to the point of seeing myself as a good-for-nothing and a failure. This tormented me for a long time, leading me to suffer from low self esteem and low confidence. The enemy definitely had his way in my life and broke my spirit for a long time, until the day Jesus came in and restored my spirit. I realized that there was a stronghold in my mind that needed to be broken, and replaced by His finished work of the Cross. It did happen!

As the years passed by, all those false predictions failed; I became a Pastor. As God would have it, I met the teacher who verbally abused me all those years in school and destroyed me emotionally. When I saw her, I immediately ran up to her and greeted her. Here is the best part - she looked at me and tears started to roll down her cheeks. She began to apologize for bruising me all those years. She asked me to forgive her and pray for her. I’ll be honest. I wanted to pray for lightning to strike her and then pray for her healing. But the whole prayer, I just thanked God for His faithfulness, love, restoration, and I finally blessed her. After my prayer, she then invited me to speak to her students about God’s love and grace.

What an amazing God we serve! He restored and brought back double the blessings into my hopeless situation. If He can do it for me, He can definitely do it for you.

Application: Maybe you need God to restore a broken relationship with an authority figure or restore something that the enemy stole from you, and you need God to restore your broken spirit. Speak this promise over your situation. (For example: Father I want to thank you according to Zechariah 9:12, that you are going to bring back double in my broken relationship with my dad. I believe you will fix it Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen)

Quote: “God promises to make something good out of the storms that bring devastation to your life”- Daystar
