Daily Bible Reading Guide, June 2023 - "God’s Saving Word: Spiritual Renewal"Sample
June 15
Introduction
Today’s reading begins with what appears to be a continuation of the thoughts Paul expressed earlier in 6:13 (see the reading from June 13). Paul is happy to hear that the Corinthians were concerned about him and were sorry for the way they had been acting. He refers to a letter in which he apparently had criticized the actions and behavior of some of the Corinthian Christians.
Scripture Reading
2 Corinthians 7:2-16
Today’s Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 7:10a
For the sadness that is used by God brings a change of heart that leads to salvation.
Reflect
What is the source of Paul’s joy? What does he say about the Corinthians? Reread verses 9-11. What are your thoughts about the concept of “sadness that is used by God”?
Pray
Loving God, may my words and actions this day reflect my love and respect for your will and your ways. Keep my heart and mind on you that I may experience the full joy that comes from being in your presence and serving you. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
2 Corinthians 8:1-15: The apostle Paul encourages the Corinthians to be generous in their giving.
