Anything Is Possible: How Nine Miracles of Jesus Reveal God's Love for You

DAY 9 OF 9

Day 9: The Gift of the Holy Spirit

Before Jesus died and rose from the grave, He prayed for His disciples and invited them to abide in Him. This means to fully trust and fully rest in Jesus. You may be asking how can one actually do this? Well, Jesus also tells His disciples that He will send them a “helper.” This word can be translated as counselor, advocate, and comforter. All of these translations are accurate and all describe the Holy Spirit who lives inside the believer. The same Spirit that raised Christ Jesus from the dead is the one who gives us strength. He is greater than the circumstances around you. Do you believe this? Do you live like this?

If it is true that the Holy Spirit inside of us is better than Jesus beside us, then our lives should bear the fruit Jesus talks about in John 15. Jesus calls us to love people, but we don’t have to love the systems of the world anymore because He chose us out of the world. The primary evidence of the Spirit of God in the life of the believer is evangelism and He will empower us to bear witness. A witness is simply someone who has knowledge from experiencing something.

If you have already experienced the gift of salvation by grace through faith, what is stopping you from bearing witness about Jesus?

If you have never surrendered your life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, He is inviting you to abide right now and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Wherever you are right now, admit to Him that you need Him, believe (trust) that when He died on the cross and rose from the grave that counted for you, and confess that He is your Lord. He will seal you with the Holy Spirit and be with you forever.
