Lent Journey

DAY 9 OF 39

DAY 9
Oblivious

God is with me and works in me, even if I am not always aware of Him in my life.

God is with me and works in me, even if I am not always aware of Him in my life. On the cross, suffering, Jesus is deeply aware of his Father, and that his Father is working.
Only a few days ago Jesus said that the temple will be destroyed, and raised up again in three days. He said this, because He knew: God is present, God is working. This awareness has always been with Jesus. It is with this attitude, this consciousness that He lived. And here on the cross where He now speaks, I can hear that He knows deep within that so much more is happening than one can see or hear.

“A baby in its mother’s womb is in a relationship with her but is unaware of it and does not respond to the mother’s intense love and desire to give herself to the child. The relationship with God on the human side can remain as minimal as that of the baby.” Ruth Burrows

Even if I am not aware of God in my life, it does not mean that He is not present, or ignoring my life. He is always present and working. Ruth Burrows says we are invited to a greater consciousness of God – an invitation to life that is so much more and better as a life without it.
