Jesus and Porn

DAY 2 OF 10

When the cycle of porn has you pinned down, how do you feel? Satisfied and complete? Or does it make you feel empty and ashamed? I’ll be honest; porn will never satisfy you as you think. A porn addiction is like any other addiction - its temporary effect leaves you feeling empty, alone, and always wanting more.

Pornography is an addictive sin. And just like every other addiction, it only leads to death. The more you fall into its trap, the more it has control over you.

Are you ready to gain back your freedom? Are you ready to experience true satisfaction in life?

Then, together, let’s work through some steps toward porn freedom.

First, let’s start with repenting. Repenting means feeling deep remorse and walking away from the wrongdoing that does not please God. It means to stop what you are doing (and turn in a different direction) and go to Jesus for help.

Repenting and turning your addiction over to Jesus is the first step toward porn freedom! Knowing that Christ is the only one who can satisfy what you really crave is a great way to refocus on truth instead of the lies that porn tells you.

Next, confess your addiction to God and others you trust. Confessing demonstrates that you want to break free from your addiction. Confessing also shows that you need healing in your heart. James 5:16 says, “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

Lastly, get into an accountability group. You need someone to hold you accountable so that they can help you through this addiction. They are here to check in, pray for, and walk with you through this journey. Hebrews 10:25 says, “ And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”

“Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty,’ but whoever drinks the water that I give will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life”- John 4:13-14.

“Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.’’- James 1:15

Daily Challenge:

If you are struggling with addiction to pornography and want to be free, take the time to confess and repent. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you feel satisfied with Jesus.

Prayer:

“ Father, I confess that I am struggling with this addiction to porn. I believe that it does not give me true satisfaction. I surrender my heart to you because you are the living water that gives me true satisfaction from my thirst. Holy Spirit, correct my heart and help me desire to love Jesus more than anything else. In Jesus’ name. Amen!”
