Did God Forget About Me?-Raising Children With Disabilities.

DAY 1 OF 5

In The Beginning

I remember when I laid eyes on my son in the delivery room—eight pounds of joy right before my eyes. I already knew that God places greatness in him and that he would come out victorious no matter what he came up against in life. I already knew he would grow up to do great things like spreading the word of God, attending college, joining the band, playing sports, and many other beautiful things. Until one day, I noticed he wasn’t like other children his age. He didn’t talk the same, he didn’t walk the same, and he wasn’t interested in the things children his age were interested in. When he was diagnosed with Autism at four years old, it felt like a slap in the face. I quickly remembered how I felt when I looked at him in the delivery room. I remembered all my hopes for him, and instantly, I became defeated. I didn’t see how my son could achieve anything I mentally set out for him to do. I felt like God had forgotten about me. Have you ever felt alone, like God forgot about you? If you’re raising a child with Autism, you know that not everyone understands what you go through daily. You know that some days are easy and some are hard. You also know that giving up is not an option. Even though you may feel like God has forgotten you, I want you to know He hasn’t and never will. In this four-day devotion, we will learn how to G.R.O.W

G- Grieve-Take time to grieve over the ideas and plans we had for our children.

R-Repent- Repent for the times we've compared our child to others or felt that they weren't good enough.

O-Observe- Observe the beauty, talent, and gifts that our autistic children possess.

W-Will- Learning to let go of our will to embrace God's Will
