God established boundaries for our protection. We have the option to choose death or life, obedience or disobedience, but there are consequences for each choice we make. Adhering to God’s word is vital as it relates to every area of our lives and no one area is exempt in how God wants us to live. The world will tell you to try it before you buy it, but as it relates to sex outside of marriage, God’s word says to obey him and he will reward your obedience.  

It’s time to debunk the sex myth that one should practice sex with individual(s) to see if they will enjoy them sexually before a marriage commitment. God didn’t command us to practice sex outside of marriage to see if we will commit to someone or determine if we like what we’re experiencing now as a barometer of what it will be like later. This very act demonstrates that one lacks faith in God and without faith it is impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6) Someone might think their way is right, but its end is the way to death (Proverbs 14:12).  

Naturally, in order to test drive a vehicle at a dealership, one must have a valid driver’s license and even on the test drive a dealer accompanies the potential buyer with a built-in speed limiter for the car. Similarly, according to God’s word, you have to obtain a marriage license in order to practice sex within the boundaries God has established. Even in the marriage, God will accompany, cover, and set limits over you. 

Don’t condone and accept the world’s ways which are overtly contrary to God’s word and apply that distorted standard to how God wants you to live. You are in the world but not of the world. If one is serious about debunking sex myths with the word of God, be prepared to be ridiculed, talked about, mocked, and even disrespected by those whom you thought were your friends and loved ones.
