DAY 5 OF 5

When we talk about identity and focus, that includes behavior. Behavior is the calling card of your identity. You use your behavior to strengthen your focus. At least that is the case with a proactive lifestyle. If your identity is not clear, you have little focus and that is also visible in inconsistent behavior. What does the Bible teach us about having an identity and consistent behavior? Jesus teaches us in Mark 1 very clearly what identity and consistent behavior means. Do you know the story that Jesus goes home with Peter because his mother-in-law is sick in bed? Jesus goes with him to heal his mother-in-law. Once in the house, he heals the sick mother-in-law and the house fills with sick and wounded and Jesus heals them too. Then Jesus withdrew to talk to His Father. Very early in the next morning, the disciples are looking for Jesus and when they find Him they beg Jesus to come back in with them. The house is once again filled with people wanting healing.

OK, you know that story. Imagine yourself in Jesus’ shoes. Imagine having great success healing people. Would you withdraw to talk to your Heavenly Father? Or would you continue? And think about the moment when you did withdraw and your students found you. What would you do if you knew that you could be very successful again that day by going back and healing the whole room? Would you say what Jesus said? “Then He said: Let’s go elsewhere to the surrounding villages so that I can spread the good news there too. After all, that’s what I went for.”

Do you know who you are? And do you show consistent behavior? The previous day’s meditation was about the center of your decisions, also called your identity. Today, think again about the center of your decisions and then look at your behavior. Does that correspond to each other?

Read Mark 1:29-39 today and reflect on your identity and behavior. Do you know what you are here on earth for?

About this Plan

Heavenly Strategy

We live in a short-term society in which we are getting further and further away from ourselves and our origins. This reading plan will make you think about the world you live in and how you might relate to it. It is a strategic approach that contributes to a thorough preparation for the spiritual battle that takes place around us.
