God Over Everything

DAY 4 OF 5

Peer Pressure

With the emergence of social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, the world’s most prominent people, places, and fashion styles are easily available for us to view daily. As the newest trends are publicized, it might not take long before you notice family members, friends, or coworkers emulating these popular people or trends. People never once take the time to consider that what they are doing might be directly violating God’s standard of living. As you notice their decision to conform to those trends, you have a decision to make of your own.

Do you choose to be comfortable and fit in with your family, friends, and coworkers by following these trends that could be sinful and ultimately leave you empty? Or do you choose the road less traveled? A road where you are not a part of the in-crowd, but your travel companion is Christ our Lord? As much as we love our family members and friends, The Apostle Paul reminds us that bad company corrupts good character.

We must be careful not to be influenced by those who ignore God’s standard of living and avoid seeking their approval. Today’s trends will die tomorrow, but God is the same yesterday, today, and forever!

Deep Reflection:

Is being comfortable among my family or peers more important than my companionship with God?
