Tithing: What Jesus Said About Tithesნიმუში

In Luke 11:42 we see Jesus correcting the Pharisee for being extremely legalistic with the tithe while neglecting “justice and the love of God”.
But then while correcting them he makes a point to mention that the tithe was something that shouldn’t be neglected either.
Jesus is making a clear point of what is more important. In this passage we see him clearly prioritizing loving others and loving God as more important than meticulously tithing every penny.
Paul adds to this in 1 Cor 13:3 when he said “If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
It is clear that Jesus is trying to make a point for those hyper rule followers that if you follow all the rules to the letter but aren’t loving then you are missing it.
Now, does Jesus say that tithing has no value? Not at all, He just made it clear which was a higher priority. Tomorrow, we will look at the different types of giving that Jesus points us to.
