Prayers for a Generous HeartSample

Today we are diving into more Bible verses on generosity from the New Testament. And if you want to go deeper, I recommend reading all of 2 Corinthians 8 and 2 Corinthians 9. They are two of my favorite chapters about giving that have deeply impacted my life. But for now, start by meditating on these 6 verses and then let’s pray.

Jesus, I choose to believe that what you said about giving is 100% true. It actually is more blessed to give than to receive. Even when faced with situations where it doesn’t feel that way, help me to give in faith, knowing that it is true.

Help me to never miss an opportunity. When I see someone I can help, I pray you would strengthen me to give with boldness.

As I give, help me give with liberality, not with a limited mindset, but with trust and expectation that you will supply and multiply my seed for sowing and increase the harvest of my righteousness.

I thank you that you are able to make all grace abound towards me so that I would always have enough and have an abundance for every act of generosity.

And thank you for the “profit” that increases to my account as a result of my giving!

Help me to do what I have purposed in my heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, but instead with trust, expectation, and joy. Help me to be the cheerful giver that I know I can be! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
