Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 1ნიმუში

To a group of people whose lives were culturally, socially, systemically and religiously structured around the words of the prophets of old, these utterances from Jesus were radical. Jesus challenged the place of his own words in the context of life, setting down a marker for his followers. You won't live in the old; you will live in the new!
Looking back, we know that Jesus fulfilled the covenant of old and was bringing a new agreement into view.
All the more reason for us to be obedient since we get to see into history and all that unfolded there through the life of Jesus Christ.
While this verse appears to be conditional ("If you abide"), it is actually the implication of being a follower; if we abide in His word as his followers would do, truth and freedom would be our experience.
