Sabbath...and the Rest Is Easy!

DAY 1 OF 7

Is there still peace in this day and age?

Do you ever find yourself lying around on your couch in the evening, unable to get away from the TV, even though all you really want is to sleep?

Perhaps you scroll through Facebook and Instagram, and when there's nothing exciting to see, you play a game and keep staring at your phone. At the same time, a few text messages reach you, even late at night, and then you remember that the laundry in the basement is ready to be folded. A few seconds later, another thought bombards you: "Has anyone put out the trash yet?"

Our brains don't seem to get a break anymore! Neither do our bodies or souls. We're subjected to digital information overload, and we don't even realize how addicted and dependent on information we can be! Sadly, in our subconscious addiction, we often run right past what God actually wants for us.

"What does God actually want?" you may be asking. God wants you to have a balance of rest and work. It's His way, the only way to live that's truly good for you!

"On the seventh day God had finished His work of creation, so He rested from all His work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when He rested from all His work of creation." (Genesis 2:2-3, NLT)

God rested. Wow. God Himself!

Do you know what "rest" means? According to the dictionary, rest is defined as the absence of sound, the absence of motion, the absence of worry or disturbance.

You may say, "How can I do that? I can't just tell my worries to go away for a day!" And yet, in a way, you can. Because—and this was God's original idea—you can turn off your TV, put your smartphone aside, stop constantly doing everything that's "urgent," and just be with God.

Yes, you can enter into God's rest. I encourage you to let go of what robs you of your peace, and you'll find the peace that only God gives.

What does it take to make this happen? You guessed it! A day of rest. :-) If God needed and chose it, don't you think you need it even more?

You are a miracle!

About this Plan

Sabbath...and the Rest Is Easy!

Friend, are you tired and weary? Do you need rest? Take a week to spend some time reflecting on taking a breath, and allowing the ‘rest’ to come easy, as you focus on the peace that comes in the moments of rest.
