Peace on Earth

DAY 5 OF 7

Peace with ourselves

What does the peace of God look like? Jesus took our guilt, shame, sickness, and anxiety on the cross. Jesus, before leaving this earth, promised to leave us His peace. His peace is a quiet assurance in our hearts that He is God and in control.

People can have a false sense of peace in escapism through sex, alcohol, drugs, gaming, etc. Those things can never give us peace nor heal the broken areas in our lives. Only God can give us Shalom, and He does that when we abide in Him by meditating on His word in a way that challenges and shapes our life. When we acknowledge Jesus as Lord and live to bring Him glory, we begin to experience the shalom in our lives. We can never bring wholeness to ourselves. We need the Prince of Peace to do that for us.

What does peace with ourselves mean? For some, it means you need to forgive yourself for some of the mess-ups in life. Allow God to come in and heal those broken places. Only God can give beauty for ashes and bring wholeness to a fractured life.

For some, it is celebrating how God has made you. Be at peace with your looks, gift mix, personality, and calling.

Another way is through true biblical fellowship. When we live in the right relationship with one another, we enjoy peace. Let us examine that tomorrow.

REFLECTIONS

Can you identify areas in your life that are not enjoying the Shalom of God?

Is there any part of your makeup that you have rejected or are not at peace with? Rejoice in the unique way that God has shaped you.

Have you forgiven yourself for past sins and choices? Forgive yourself today, and wholeness will flood your heart and soul.

About this Plan

Peace on Earth

Every Christmas, we come upon songs and phrases that we have perhaps grown too familiar with. Navaz DCruz takes us through a reflection on the phrase "Peace on Earth" this Advent season.
