Year of the Bible: Part Ten of Twelve

DAY 19 OF 30

Reflect His Glory

Ephesians is filled with truth about the way God sees us. Dr. Tony Evans comments on today’s passage, saying, “Paul is overwhelmed by this thing called the family of God made up of people from every background and every race. Before he discusses how spiritually rich believers are, he wants to make sure they know who they are.”

Knowing who we are in Christ is pivotal to walking out the fullness of God’s calling. Paul points out that God made a way for all people to be part of His family—both Jews and Gentiles. The gravity of this is difficult for us to grasp in our modern culture. Nonetheless, God broke down divisions between people groups and made a way, through Jesus, for all people to join His family.

If you have acknowledged that Jesus died for you and accepted the gift of forgiveness He bought for you, then you have equal footing before God—no matter where your lineage began. Dr. Evans states, “there are no insignificant people in God’s army.”

This army of believers makes up the church, who reflect God’s glory as witnesses to all of creation and heaven. God blends our different ethnicities, cultures, and genders to show the angels, heavenly beings, and even Satan what it looks like for His values to operate in history.

Paul wants believers to know that we have a purpose far beyond ourselves. We prove God is right when we walk in the identity He has given us. The beauty of being part of the church is that all of us display a different spectrum of color from the prism of the church, which reflects back to God—our light and our creator. Jesus, our salvation, made a way for us to be part of the beauty God intended. You are significant in reflecting God’s glory!

Question: Do you believe that your presence in God’s body of believers matters? What would happen if you chose to believe today?

Prayer: Ask God to help you believe where you have unbelief. Ask Him to show you how to reflect His glory today to bring even more glory to Him.
