T.i.m.e. With God

DAY 1 OF 4

T - Taught By God

Feelings of isolation and loneliness can creep in when officials are on the road and our families/loved ones are at home. It takes intention to make time for God so that we know He is always there and we are never alone.

In a world where we can be thousands of miles apart, consider how much easier it is TODAY to stay connected. We have the tools to connect over the phone, through text messages, video calls, and on social media. We have the tools to travel more quickly to one another. God gave us tools to stay connected with Him, too. We simply need to be intentional with making time for Him to better understand God’s unfailing connection to us, as we are the branches of His vine.

In school, we were taught different tools that carry us through life and help us to be successful. We don’t just *know* what to do. We had to commit to going to class each day and learning from experts in various subjects. We took notes, met with classmates, studied together, and reviewed our notes with one another. As officials, we continue our learning through camps and trainings. We review with experts in our field. We meet with other officials to break down video and practice mechanics. These tools help us grow and learn so that, ideally, we can be successful and help others grow.

In the same way, we need to prioritize our spiritual growth so that we know we are never alone. That way, we can grow and ultimately bring as many people with us to heaven. This starts with creating daily disciplines, or habits, to be present with Him as He teaches us. Being present with God means turning off the distractions around you. Find a quiet place – ideally, the same place each day to create a habit – so that God gets your full attention in your prayer, daily Bible reading, and/or devotion. Create accountability and learn from others by being intentional. Join a group through your church or rally like-minded officials to talk about God’s word, pray for one another and celebrate weekly wins. Through these daily habits, we are taught how to have a clearer connection with God and the peace of knowing that He is with us in every moment.

What is one way you can allocate your time to be present with God on a daily basis?

What is God teaching you today?

Day 2

About this Plan

T.i.m.e. With God

In today’s world, everybody’s in a rush. We rush our mornings to get to school or work. We run our days to get more done. We rush our evenings with full schedules. Unfortunately, another day passed, and we rushed right past God. As sports officials and families of officials, we run by God even faster with all our travel and responsibilities. Let’s slow down and spend some TIME with God.
