How to Know if They Are the One

DAY 1 OF 5

When we look at the Bible, we see that it teaches us a lot about purity, instead of focusing on who we should date. Purity is more than being a virgin. Virginity is physical, but purity is about the heart and it involves our thoughts and emotions. You are a virgin until you get married, but you are pure for the rest of your life.

As someone who is single, God wants you to focus on living a pure life, starting now. Purity is not a destination you arrive at, meaning that just because you no longer battle with porn addiction, you are somehow pure. Instead, it should be viewed as a constant and lifelong pursuit of God.

Understanding this is key because the foundation of a godly relationship is purity–our pursuit after God.

Having said this, one of the first things to keep an eye out for is a solid relationship with God. When God is not the most important one in someone’s life, it is a red flag. You should not be the most important person in your partner’s life, it should be God.

And secondly, notice if they have a wandering eye.

A wandering eye is when someone is constantly checking out other people of the opposite sex. This also refers to checking people out online, do they follow people that post revealing pictures on social media (trainers, models, celebrities, etc.)?

If the person you are interested in dating does not respect purity, has no desire to wait until marriage to have sex, and does not want to set physical boundaries in the relationship, really consider if you should remain in this relationship.

Let's Pray:

Heavenly Father, I want to live in a daily pursuit of You. Help me, Holy Spirit, to live in purity and choose someone who also values purity and has a love for You.
