I Am Rahab: How to Unlock Your True Identity

DAY 4 OF 4

The Covenant and The Blood

Joshua 2:12, 14, 17-21 (NLT)

Carefully follow these conversations:

Rahab: Now swear to me by the LORD that you will be kind to me and my family since I have helped you. Give me some guarantee that when Jericho is conquered, you will let me live, along with my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all their families.”

The Spies: We offer our own lives as a guarantee for your safety,” the men agreed. “If you don’t betray us, we will keep our promise and be kind to you when the LORD gives us the land.”

Before they left, the men told her, “We will be bound by the oath we have taken only if you follow these instructions. When we come into the land, you must leave this scarlet rope hanging from the window through which you let us down. And all your family members—your father, mother, brothers, and all your relatives—must be here inside the house.

Rahab: I accept your terms,” she replied. And she sent them on their way, leaving the scarlet rope hanging from the window.

Rahab demonstrated faith in God by placing a demand on the spies and following their instructions. She understood that covenants require that each party play a role. Her role was to obey the instructions of the spies, and she did her part by hanging the scarlet line. Every time we obey God's instruction, we are unlocking our identity. The scarlet line was a memorial and proof of the covenant between Rahab and the God who guaranteed her total deliverance from Jericho. Jericho was a territory that trapped her and prevented her from launching into her true identity. Despite Rahab’s faith, she could not leave Jericho. Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in (Joshua 6:1). Thank God for the scarlet line. Alleluia! The scarlet line gave Rahab hope, and it was her link to freedom. Through the scarlet line, Rahab left Jericho and walked into God’s purpose for her life. She became Rahab the mother of Boaz, the great-grandfather of David (Matthew 1:5).

Rahab's scarlet line represents the blood of Jesus. Through the blood of Jesus, we are translated into the family of God, redeemed from destruction, and have victory over whatever resists the manifestation of our true identity. Addictions, generational curses, the power of sin, and every evil cannot resist the blood of Jesus. A revelation of the blood of Jesus will give you a deeper understanding of God's love for you and change how you see yourself.

Today, I invite you to study and meditate on the following scriptures on the Blood of Jesus:

1 Corinthians 6:20

Acts 20:28

1 Peter 1:18-19

Ephesians 1:7

Revelation 12:11
