Living The Christian Life Of Obedience

DAY 5 OF 7

Ten Commandments are not multiple choice questions or best practices or guidelines or core values. The non-negotiable absolute requirements of Creator God from His creation – the humanity.

Passage
The Lord wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments he had proclaimed to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly. And the Lord gave them to me. (Deut 10:4)

Principles
Unlike in other religious texts, whose authorship is either not known, or only human; Ten Commandments were written by God Himself. So they are Holy Precepts binding on all humanity. The first four commandments are those that define the relationship with God. The fifth commandment is regarding the relationship within family, i.e., parents, and the last five are the relationship with others.

These commandments cannot be altered or diluted or edited or compromised or deleted. These commandments are eternal and global in application. That means the Ten Commandments are relevant to each and every generation. These commandments are universal that they are relevant for any culture or any nation in the world.

Practice
It will be good to meditate each commandment and understand how it would affect my life. These commandments could be applied in family context, context of institution, context of ministry also.

Plan of Action
Memorize the Ten Commandments and also make a wall hanging in your home. Make a list of things you would like to do so that you fulfil these Ten Commandments.
