The Jesus Bible Reading Planნიმუში

CONTENTMENT
This passage joins a chorus of verses in Proverbs that urge a balance of diligence and contentment in life with what one has — rather than laziness or a workaholic craving for things that will not last. Jesus told a parable about a rich fool who focused entirely on acquiring and preserving his possessions, only to lose everything he had worked so hard for when he died (Lk 12:15 – 21). Hebrews gives a good perspective on the kind of contentment Proverbs urges: “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?’ ” (Heb 13:5 – 6). Believers do not ultimately look to money for help but to God. Trust Jesus and be content with what he has provided.
Jesus, help me to be content in all circumstances. Help me to balance my life with you as my focus. Amen.
