DAY 25 OF 30

A Picture of God's Justice

Isaiah painted a picture of God's character and justice.

Matthew quotes Isaiah 42:1-5 and plainly says it is a prophecy fulfilled in Jesus (Matthew 12:16-21).

V1. Justice is fulfilled by God in service. Jesus described Himself as a servant in Matthew 23:11, Mark 9:35, and Mark 10:43-45. Justice has the work of truth. The Holy Spirit will always lead us into all truth (John 16:13). Jesus was filled with the Spirit and did ministry in the power and flow of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16).

V2. God's justice is humble.

V3. God's justice is gentle.

V4. God's justice is persistent and faithful. "He will not grow faint or be discouraged."

V4.God's justice is non-discriminating: "till He has established justice in the earth and the coastlands wait for His law."

V6. God's justice is a light for the nations.

V7. God's justice heals, sets free, and restores: "to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon."

Question: What comes to your mind when you think of justice? Does it reflect the above-listed characteristics?

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for showing me what the justice of God looks like. Thank you that your definition of justice is not self-serving in any way. Teach me to walk in the same way when it comes to seeking justice. Help me to be full of Your Spirit—humble with the heart of a servant and the will to wait for You in every circumstance. Amen!
