Real Hope: Meeting With GodSample
Can You Spare A Few Minutes?
When I was very young, my father, who was a keen mountaineer, happened to spot Edmund Hillary at Auckland Airport. The conversation that followed, although brief, was amiable. Hillary was about to catch a flight. I remember being awed that I’d met someone famous, and grateful that he had taken time out of his busy schedule to stop and chat with my dad and me.
If Hillary was prepared to stop and spend a few minutes chatting to a passing acquaintance, how much more time would he give to someone he loved, like a member of his immediate family? If we stopped and counted the time we spent on frivolous things, checking social media, email, binging TV, how many hours a week would be free for us to give to our heavenly Father?
A friend calls you wanting to organise a coffee. Sure, you say, and check your calendar. Sorry, can’t do coffee this week – way too much on. What if God says to you, hey, can you spare me a few minutes? What do you say then? Sorry, I can’t do that this week – I’m just way too busy?
It sounds strange doesn’t it, saying no to spending time with God. But that’s exactly what we do! He should be the most important part of our lives. The more time we spend with Him the better we get to know Him and the deeper is our love. Do we really love God like we say we do? He already loves us, but He wants us to love Him in return. Shuffle things around and slot God into the time you free up. What if you do half an hour less on social media today? Spend time with God. It’s time well spent.

About this Plan
God desires to be with His people. We read it time and time again in the Bible. However, the question that always remains is, are we desiring to be with God in the same way He desires to be with us? In this plan we seek to understand the heart of what our amazing God has for us.
