Back to School Encouragement for Busy MomsSample
Caring for Your Marriage This School Year
Somehow, it seems that our marriage gets put on the back burner when life gets busy. With an ever-flowing to-do list, the joy and closeness of companionship with our spouse feel like it slips right through our fingers. We have all been there! Tiredness can quickly take over, and with school stressors, financial pressures, and needy kids, we can soon start feeling friction in our relationship with our spouses.
Mom, this school year, cultivate your relationship with your husband. Make it a priority. Satan would love nothing more than to weaken your marriage with busyness. Don’t let him win! Not to mention, we are more robust in life when our marriage is being tended to and not neglected. God put you together to work as a team this year, and you can’t win in the game of life without game plans and lots of time together!
Schedule some time on your calendar to connect with your husband. Like other essential things you schedule, this one is worthwhile. There doesn’t need to be money involved- sit on the porch together to chat, plan a movie night when the kids go to bed, spend some time together preparing for the year….there are so many ways you can sneak in meaningful time together!
You will be glad you made this a part of your school-year routine!
Questions to Ponder:
1. On a scale of 1-10, how do you think your marriage is doing? Prayerfully go to God with your answer. Ask Him to help you get that scale up by 1 or 2 points this year. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you, friend!
2. Take a look at your calendar. What are some good times you can schedule in time with your husband? Remember, be practical, not idealistic! God works in imperfect moments. It doesn’t have to look totally put together. Coffee at a messy breakfast table is more than good!
