Gen Z Daters–This One’s for YouSample
Inviting
Generation Z–you know who you are. While other generations can share their opinions and ideas about you, only you know what it’s like to grow up at the exact moment you are now. Your generation is unlike any before it. And although it’s taken some rap for promoting deathly TikTok trends, that was only a select handful of you all.
The truth is, as much as scientists and news stations like to clump each person in a generation into one big category, everyone is different. Nevertheless, some trends among the general Gen Z population seem to ring true.
●Gen Z cares about mental health.
●Gen Z prioritizes work-life balance without sacrificing finances.
●Gen Z is passionate about social issues.
●Gen Z is more willing to explore their sexuality.
●Gen Z prioritizes friendships and community.
●Gen Z doesn’t just date to find “the one.”
●Gen Z cares deeply about the people in their lives.
Can you relate to any of those characteristics?
As a Christian Gen Z, you may find some of those statements don’t ring true, and that’s okay! Maybe you do prioritize mental health and friendships, but you also don’t question who God made you to be. Maybe you are passionate about social issues and working smarter, not harder, but you’d also like to find someone to spend your life with.
Wherever you are on your journey of finding love, God wants to be right by your side throughout the process. He wants to be with you while you’re swiping left and right on dating apps. He wants to be with you in your excitement of a new match and heartbreak when you get ghosted. He wants to be by your side through it all. In fact, He is with you through it all–it’s up to you to invite Him into the dating process so that you can experience the love, joy, and peace He brings along with Him.
Start today by inviting God into your dating life with this prayer:
Dear God,
As I get out there and start dating, please be present with me. I pray You will guide my heart and mind as I look for a partner to do life with. I pray for wisdom and discernment as I get to know each person I date, and I ask that You would give me the courage to follow Your will. Above all, I pray that You would be glorified in my dating life, no matter the outcome. In Jesus' name, Amen.
