DAY 2 OF 3

Have you ever pursued a relationship? Maybe a friend in biology who had all the right answers, or a girlfriend. In 9th grade, I pursued a lot of friendships with upper-classmen because I thought it would be awesome to ride to school with someone close to my age! I eventually found someone who could take me to school and paid them some gas money. (I didn't gain any popularity whatsoever.) The most recent relationship I pursued was with my wife! We became quick friends through our church and I felt pretty clear that she was worth pursuing. We were best friends for seven months before we dated, and I was definitely persistent in pursuing her. There wasn’t a day that I didn't text her, A week that we didn't hang out, and a month with me asking her out (she said no a lot but look at me now!)

In all seriousness, A girl who attended my church became the love of my life because I was persistent in seeking her.

In Matthew 7:7 we read Jesus’ sharing “Seek, and you will find.”

What do we seek?

Jesus.

Yes, it is that simple. In our current day, there is so much to seek! Good grades, relationships, losing weight, holiness, righteousness, and a role at church. There is not a short list of things to seek or pursue.

In Matthew 6:33 Jesus makes it very clear that before anything else, we must seek first His kingdom, and every Kingdom has a King.

On Day 1 we learned how to ask Jesus the right questions.

After you ask for the things you believe are in God’s will (Like I did with my wife,) You should pursue His will.

Pursue Jesus today, not for what He can give you, but because of what He already gave you, salvation, freedom, and clarity in your calling. Through pursuing Him, don’t wait on the sidelines, I didn’t just sit in my prayer closet and pray for a random girl to be my wife, I treated her like a queen, I took her on dates, I was not just praying empty prayers, I followed it up with serving her.

SEEK first the Kingdom today.

About this Plan

Ask Seek Knock

In our current time, we hear a lot of ways to get what we want, pursue dreams, and to "get ours," but in Matthew 7 Jesus gives a clear picture of how to walk in a lifestyle of prayer and relationship with Him. In this three-day devotional, we will walk together on how to establish a foundational relationship with Jesus through prayer.
