Sermon on the Mountნიმუში

A Foundation of Truth
Matthew closed his summary of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount by encouraging his disciples to maintain a daily, moment-to-moment, dependence on God. There have always been temptations that encouraged God’s people to live with a distracted relationship to God. Jesus warned about choosing to follow the world’s influences. Instead, we are encouraged to build our lives firmly on God’s trusted word and trust him to be our strength and our guide.
- Why is a strong understanding of the Sermon on the Mount essential for the Christian life? (verses 24–27)
- What was the difference between listening to Jesus and listening to anyone else (verses 28–29)? How do those verses apply to your spiritual life?
