Prayers and Reflections to Strengthen Your Relationship With GodSample
His Perfect Peace
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! —Isaiah 26:3
Every good thing can be found in God’s presence. This includes perfect, permanent peace. Contrary to what many believe, we can have peace at all times. And while our mind can be the breeding ground for unhealthy thoughts and torment, the Lord promises us a safeguard against the attacks that enter because of what we’re thinking about. This conditional promise guarantees that as long as we fix our thoughts on God, He will keep us in perfect peace.
When I discovered this promise several years ago, it quite honestly changed my life. I lived in a constant state of torment, fear, guilt, and shame, and this led me to feel depressed and anxious most of the time. But when I discovered this scripture, I began to fix my thoughts on God, and I experienced peace. This peace has remained with me for years.
And what’s better is that God made a great exchange without me even realizing it. You see, as we fix our thoughts on Christ, over and over, He exchanges our thoughts for His thoughts. God doesn’t expect us to just daydream about Him all day. He gives us His Word, books like "52-Week Devotional for Women," a body of believers to be in fellowship with, and even music and entertainment that we can engage in.
By immersing ourselves in a godly lifestyle, we can fix our thoughts on God, and it won’t be hard to keep them there.
REFLECTION
Would you say you have the perfect peace described in Isaiah 26:3? How do you fix your thoughts on God? If you lack perfect peace, can you identify the thoughts that have disrupted your peace?
PRAYER
Dear Lord, You love me so much that You gave me the promise of perfect peace in my mind, body, and spirit. Today, I ask that You help me fix my thoughts on You so that I can live in Your constant state of perfect peace. In Jesus’s name, amen.
