Flowers Don't Worry: Journal Your Way Through Anxiety!

DAY 1 OF 7

Worry is often our most natural response to a challenging or difficult situation. It’s characterized by a feeling of intense anxiety and apprehension about a problem that we’re currently facing or potentially might face in the future.

Worry begins in the mind and is accompanied by restless thoughts laced with fear, doubt, nervousness and panic. Almost all of us have, at some point in our lives, experienced the fear and helplessness that comes with worry.

Jesus knew that this would be something we’d deal with on the regular and gives us some solid advice on how to cope with worry. In an attempt to exhort us on the topic, Jesus requests us to learn from the flowers in the fields… and that’s exactly what we will do through this brief Bible plan. Let’s “look at the lilies” like our Savior asked us to and at other flowers and see how we can learn some valuable lessons in coping with anxiety.

If you’re someone who tends to worry a lot or feel anxious in troublesome circumstances, I sincerely hope that this plan helps you a lot.

Also, please remember that the goal of this plan is to journal your way through worry. So I recommend you do the following, without fail:

  • Please ensure you have a journal that you use while you’re doing this plan. Each day, you can use this journal to write down, doodle and draw out your thoughts, feelings, prayers and reflections.
  • Each day has a simple floral doodle tutorial that can help you express yourself in your journal. You are free to follow it or use your own creativity and imagination to journal. This plan is just to help you connect with God through journaling and cope with worry in a practical way.
  • Things you need: A journal, some black pens or pencils to doodle with (please feel free to use colored pens if that’s your preference) and a quiet place and time to reflect on each day’s message. Bring paints, color pencils and any other art or craft supplies that you might prefer incorporating in your journal as well.

About this Plan

Flowers Don't Worry: Journal Your Way Through Anxiety!

Worrying is a normal response to difficult situations. However, Jesus urges us in Luke 12:27 to “look at the lilies” and learn from them about trusting God. This Bible plan encourages you to actively work through your anxiety by journaling creatively. Take out your notebook, pens, paints, craft paper, etc. and engage with the Word of God! Let’s learn from a few flowers about how to deal with worry.
