Love Is a Person

Love is not merely an affection, a concept, or a devotion; rather, it finds its grounding in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Our society communicates the essence of love as an emotive principle that is gauged by the individual, but the biblical account forges a different reality. Love is unified with truth in the person of Jesus. Christ entered the tapestry of creation full of grace and truth (John 1:14). He is the standard to which we are to grasp and understand the power of love.

Immerse yourself in the person of Christ and find yourself exemplifying the love that governs the universe. Suffuse yourself in the truth of the Scriptures and find yourself permeating the divine love of the triune God. For the Lord himself said, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my Word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him” (John 14:23).

Lord Jesus, forgive me for chasing concepts and principles. Holy Spirit, help me to chase after Christ, that I would grow in my love and affections toward him.
