Fierce Hope – A Spoken-Word Devotional

DAY 4 OF 4

He'd Do it Again

For three days darkness won and death celebrated.
But on the third day it all culminated
With this, the moment, the point of the story.
It wasn't His death that brings God the glory.
On Sunday they saw the stone rolled away
Revealing the tomb was empty that day.
Christ was not there; He rose from that grave.
His death wasn't for nothing; our souls it did save.
He'd conquered hell, He now had the keys.
Death was defeated-taken out at the knees.
Christ dead and lifeless as He hung on the cross,
Crushed, broken, and beaten. He did this for us.
Every gash, every cut, it was me on His mind.
He bore the sin on His shoulders for all of mankind.

While we were still filthy, He hung on a tree.
He bled and He died for you and for me.
Because sin demands payment, it comes with a cost.
We owed a debt, our freedom He bought.
His body the payment, His blood paid the price,
Given wholly and freely, a pure sacrifice.
He took my guilt, my sin, and my shame.
Because of His love I'm no longer the same.
Every hurt, every heartbreak, every tear that I've cried,
Every dark dirty secret that I keep deep inside,
He saw and He knew and still thought me worthy.
He doesn't think that I'm gross, He doesn't think I am dirty.
When Christ hung on the cross, He did more than just die.
With that act of love He disproved a lie
That death is the end, that darkness will reign
That regardless of trying, we'll end up in pain.
There is more to this life than just growing old.
Don't settle for small, like you've always been told.
I know it gets hard, but those voices must hush.
We were worth more; life was given for us.
Don't live in frustration and bound up in strife.
The Son of a King thought us worthy of life.
The road between us and life He did mend,
And seeing us now...He'd do it again.

About this Plan

Fierce Hope – A Spoken-Word Devotional

Savanna Hartman describes a world that has never been more broken and lost than it is today. People are hurting and want something authentic and real to hold on to. She makes a compelling case that true hope can be found only in Christ. Despite the chaos that is all around you, hope is within your reach right now.
