Spirit, Soul & Body Part 1Sample
Visible in the mirror
Reflection
God’s word shows us who we are and reveals the mysteries of his love for the world. Just as when we look at our physical appearance in a mirror, so we see ourselves in the person of Jesus Christ and what his new life means for the lives we live.
Reflect on what has changed in you because of Jesus.
Introspection
As you cast your thoughts back over the last few days, remember that Jesus’ life, death and resurrection provided every believer with the opportunity to know complete change on their inside. The word reveals that this inner change wasn't in the body or in the soul but in what Jesus introduced to Nicodemus as a born-again spirit. That means the core of your being has been totally changed, saved! This influences your soul and body to align the whole of your life to the image of Jesus in surrender to him.
Recognize what you have inherited from our Lord Jesus (Jn 1: 16); confess his finished work with genuine faith (Rom. 10: 9) and confidence (1 Cor 1: 31); receive his blessing as you look into his perfect face (Jam. 1: 25); may your whole spirit and soul and body be blameless (1 Thess. 5: 23) - be perfect - because it is possible through Jesus Christ the Lord!
Your Next Step
For the next few minutes go and stand in front of a mirror and look intently at yourself. Do not look around at other things you see in the mirror and don’t rush this exercise. Gaze into your own eyes.
Some find this exercise strange, some find it easy, some find it difficult or emotional. There’s no ‘right or wrong’ experience but concentrate on your physical appearance, your expressions, and your emotion; look at how your body is home to your soul (consciousness) and your spirit (life source).
Thank God for what he has done for you. Tell him your heart’s desire to grow as his unique follower. Align your thoughts with the glorious things he has spoken about you.
