Down Is Not My DestinySample
CHOOSE TO LIVE AS A VICTOR, NOT A VICTIM!
There is a blues song by J.B. Lenoir where the singer says, “I’ve been down so long, that down don’t bother me no more!” Unfortunately, the song's lyrics describe the lives of many people today. It’s tragic, yet nonetheless true that the enemy of our souls has duped and deceived many of us into believing we were created to be cursed, destined to be defeated, set up to be set back, forced to fight a fight that's fixed, born to be beaten down, alive to be abused, and that down is our destiny!
Life can get tough sometimes, and because we live in a fallen world filled with sinful, broken people, from time to time, we may find ourselves on the receiving end of other people’s mishaps and mistakes. In today’s Scripture reading, Mephibosheth became lame in both feet because his nurse accidentally dropped him as a child. Don’t miss that; she dropped him, and he became lame. She made a mistake, yet he paid the price! If you’ve ever had something or someone taken from you, if you’ve ever been the victim of a crime, if you’ve ever been on the other end of someone else’s mistake, you know what that feels like exactly.
When bad things happen, you have one of two choices: you can look at what you’ve lost and be hateful, or look through faith's eyes at what you have left and be grateful. You can choose to live as a victim or rise above your circumstances through the power of the Holy Spirit and live victoriously in Jesus Christ! Mephibosheth’s life was changed when David called him to sit at the king’s table. The King of Kings extends the same invitation to us! Victims transform into victors in the presence of the King! Draw close to Jesus to find the restoration, acceptance, and healing you need today!
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Victims transform into victors in the presence of the King! What practical steps can you take today to draw closer to Jesus Christ?
