Hearing God to Make an Impact

Mama, did you know there are certain works God designed for YOU, specifically, to do? It’s true! Before you were born, He thought of you, and crafted everything into you that you would need to complete these unique tasks! So you may find yourself asking, “What ARE the things that God designed ME to do?” Sister, we can bring this question directly to the source, God Himself!

If you haven’t already, make sure to listen to our first two podcasts in this series about hearing God. They lay the foundation for understanding who He is and who we are in Him. We must know these vital truths so that anything we do can be an overflow, not a striving to achieve or prove ourselves! Ephesians 1:1-2:9 also summarizes these important foundational truths.

As you spend time asking God where He is calling you to make an impact right now, remember, our sphere of influence can look different in different seasons of our lives. If you’re a mother of young ones, you may find Him emphasizing that exact sphere as your focus right now. It is a high calling to raise the next generation! Or He may impress you to intentionally love your husband, or reach out to a neighbor. Don’t discount seemingly “small” tasks. There is a BIG impact when you’re doing it with and through Him! On the other hand, you may find Him stretching you to step out in a way you wouldn’t expect. Maybe He’s calling you to lead a Bible study, share your testimony, or even start a Help Club in your area! Be open to Him. You may be surprised!

Questions to ask God during your quiet time:

1. God, what have you designed me to do? (Don’t rush; take time to listen and be still. Write it down even if you hear one word or sense a gentle impression. Be patient. It can take time to unfold the things God impresses on your heart).
2. Where do you want me to focus on making an impact right now?
3. How can I partner with you to do the good works you created me to do?
