Overwhelmed, Praise God in the Middle of the Storm

DAY 1 OF 3

Covered by God

I was in the “middle of the storm.” In less than one week, I went from a 100%-staffed team to a 50%-staffed team, with all the same work to be done. At that same time, I was supporting a friend who was going through a heart-wrenching tough time with an ill family member.

Then, I began hearing Bethel Music’s lyrics, "I’m gonna sing, in the middle of the storm; louder and louder, you're gonna hear my praises roar.” God used the lyrics to reach me as I began seeing His good works all around me.

I was still struggling with a short-staffed team and witnessing the family friend’s health deteriorate. But, as I reached a low, I saw I had a pre-scheduled massage already on my calendar. I couldn’t unsee this as part of God’s plan, as Him walking before me. From my perspective, God knew that I’d be walking through a valley and had joy already prepared ahead of me. The massage, which was scheduled weeks before, occurred on the day I needed it most!

While I was inside humbly receiving the massage, it was physically raining outside. I could hear it thundering and rumbling outside. Meanwhile, I was inside hearing soft music playing while I rested. It was laid on my heart—is this not exactly what it’s like to be covered by God in your life; to have peace internally while there is a storm around you? Being in that serene indoor setting with a literal storm outside was such a clear illustration of God covering me and His ability to cover you.

God can cover us in the middle of our storms. All we must do is allow Him into our hearts, to cover us, and to have eyes wide open to see His works around us.

Key Takeaways:

• Are you looking to God in the storm?

• Allow God to cover you and walk ahead of you

• Keep your eyes open to God’s everyday miracles

Prayer:

Father, thank You for always walking ahead of me and preparing the way. Thank You for giving me a quiet resting place in You, especially in the middle of the storm. Thank You for opening my eyes to Your everyday miracles. I remain in awe of You, God!

Day 2

About this Plan

Overwhelmed, Praise God in the Middle of the Storm

Overwhelm can easily occur at work as many of us are being asked to do more with less. When a team member resigns, moves to another team, or gets fired, the work falls to you – culminating in a storm. In this 3-day devotion, learn how to praise God in the middle of your work storms.
